Your Most Asked Questions
People often have questions about a new church. We hope this page will answer most of them. E-mail us if you have further questions at first163@centurytel.net.

How do I get to DFPC?

We are right on the main highway, Highway 2, that runs through Davenport. We are on the western side of town- the big brick building on the north side of the highway. Click here to view a map:

How should I dress?

We are not a very formal bunch. People wear all manner of dress. Most people come dressed "business casual". In the summer dress is more casual.

What is available for my children?

We have Sunday School for all ages at 9 am- our Sunday School Hour. Our worship service is at 10 am and there is childcare for children up to age five. Children over that age are encouraged to attend service with their parents. Our congregation is used to having energetic and squirmy kids in worship. There are elements in the service that are geared for children.

What is a typical service like?

We have what many call a "blended" service. There are both traditional and contemporary elements of worship. We greet one another at the beginning of the service and sing contemporary praise songs soon after. The words are projected so do not worry if you don't know the words. We sing two hymns, have a children's message, and the choir sings. The service is energetic and engaging and appeals to all ages.

What are the sermons like?

The messages are designed to encourage and challenge. The usual message is about twenty minutes long. You do not need a lot of Bible knowledge or theology to understand what is being said. The sermon is an exposition of Scripture. Don't worry if you don't have a Bible with you- the Scripture passages are read and pew Bibles are available for your use.

Will I be singled out as a newcomer?

No. People are warm and friendly. They will greet you and want to get to know you. But you will not be asked to publicly introduce yourself, sign anything or anything like that. We understand that you need time and space to evaluate what is best for you and your family. Please feel free to meet the pastor after the service during our fellowship time (we like to eat).
